This has to be the most disappointing episode ever. Him enters the PPG's dreams and plays on their greatest fears. A great idea for an episode; too bad it was executed so poorly. First off, let's examine each of the girls' fears: Blossom is anxious about taking a test she didn't study for. Awesome. Bubbles is afraid of the dark. That's reasonable. Buttercup is afraid of spiders. Spiders?! Okay, fear of spiders is common, but come-on! Is that the best they can come up with? Spiders?
Second, the ways in which their fears were exploited was pointless. The whole schoolhouse scene with Blossom was long and tedious. "Him" just kept harping on grades. Why not dig a little deeper into Blossom's psyche? Maybe she has a profound fear of failure because she's a leader. If she fails, people get hurt. Bubbles' sequence looked the most promising. (The evil looking doll in the corner was an homage to the movie Poltergeist.) Alas, it too went nowhere. And Buttercup...the whole spider premise was dumb to begin with, so I don't have much to say about the rest of the debacle.
Geek alert! Seven doesn't have a square-root because it's prime?! What the?! Tell that to my calculator. What they probably meant was that prime numbers don't have rational square-roots, therefore, it would take an infinite amount of time for her to calculate/answer it. My point is, just because the square-root of seven is irrational doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. (Following that logic, "pi" doesn't exist either.)
One and a half stars

ok,being the huge "nightmare on elm st." fan that i am(what, you call owning freddy bust's from 4 of the films a small thing? i higlhy doubt it)
i loved this episode, but i would not rate it with tip top ratings, nor to low, heres why:
pro's:
1)i found the stuffed animals comming alive very cute, yet disturbing......
2)the fact that me and buttercup have the same fear.
3)i thought the fear of faliure was just plain cute.
con's:
1)the way the sutffed animals said they were gonna stick a tag saing made in tai-wan up your butt was kinda stupid.
2)the whole square route of 7 thing,i lerent that not to long before i read the reveiw.
3)the idea was good, cute even  .but i didnt see the point, generaly, most cartoon's that have episodes like this normaly have a high, intense mood of fear about them,or at least thats what the animators go for.why? because the audience's are generaly older, with the PPG,there are more younger fans,so you cant get to much detail or intense macarbe or fear into it,at least, not without expecting a letterbox full of angry letters and letter bomb's.so i just couldent see the point.although, this is comming from a horror finatic,so..... |

wow, I remember seeing this episode and thinking to myself "WOOOOOOAH!!!!" The fear element was well-played considering the series has to be...monitered. What would've been cool to add if it were possible would've been to make Him get a taste of his own medicine and for us to get to see his fear: the Powerpuff Girls! What I don't understand is that how could Blossom lose her knowledge out of fear. I mean I know what it's like to be mentally incapacitated out of fear and have my thoughts shut down, but you don't lose your knowledge or your intelligence. As for Bubbles, I can not underatand whatsoever. I mean how can anyone be afraid of plushes, especially Bubbles? Maybe she was afraid of clowns and that was incorporated into some of the plushes in her collection. Still, we have Buttercup, who is mean and the most Spartan of them three, yet she got squeamish by a spider. That's just like an elephant: they may be indominablly strong, but somehow something so insignificant can scare the wits and fighting spirit out of the victim. Eventually, all the evil thoughts were conquered to reveal the apprentice's face and the plan was erroding by the newfound courage of our heroines. I would like to see this one again, if only to better understand the inner mechanics of the Powerpuff Girls.
