This animated short about three super-powered girls was Craig's first step towards achieving fame and fortune...well, fame...among kids...girls to be more precise...some teens...and a handful of animation savvy adults...but we love him and that's what's important. What I found surprising was how much the characters didn't change between then and now. The style of animation, character mannerisms, gags, even the ending sequence were virtually unchanged. It's nice to see an artist's vision not be compromised by network executives along the way.
The episode, if I can even call it that, isn't very good. You don't get a good feel for any of the characters except maybe the Amoeba boys. But what does shine through is the overall feeling that this is something special. It's got the potential to be something really great.
It's not fair to compare this to other episodes since the production values are much lower. Instead, I based my rating on comparing "Whoopass Stew" to other animated shorts I've seen throughout the years.

| Oh man, I saw this one. I was concocting my own Whoopass Stew to follow in Craig's footsteps. It's still in the works, but I hope it is something cool. And for the note, it's MORE than "fanfiction." |
