I'm bringing back one interesting topic I posted some time ago (plus a few extras).

Lately, after watching Totally Spies, I found some eerie similarities between that show and The Powerpuff Girls:

The Girls:

The Powerpuff Girls. Three perfect little girls (or at least two of them), a redhead, a blonde and a brunette.

Sam, Clover and Alex. Let's see, redhead, blonde and brunette... Sound familiar?

Evil Counterparts:

In comic #50 "Deja View" we are introduced to the evil versions of the PPGs: The Powerpunk Girls.

In Totally Spies, guess what... In the episode "Spy Vs. Spy" they have evil versions, too, Even with the same hair color! Scary, ain't it?

Male counterparts:

Brick (redhead), Boomer (blonde), and Butch (brunette). The Rowdyruff Boys! The main reason of this website!

Now they've done it! Let's see: A redhead, a blonde and a brunette... The Rowdyruff Boys? NO! In the episode "S.P.I.", it turns out that the Spies have their own male counterparts.. Sorry, no green monkey involved in this.

A can of Woohp@$&... I mean Powerpuff!

Remember WOOHP from Totally Spies? It seems that the name comes from "Whoop@$% Stew: A sticky Situation", the PPGs' very first animation. It could have been worse: They could have called it the CHEMICAL X agency.

After reading this, you may draw your own conclusions. And it all happenned in front of CN's noses!

Yep...just goes to show that many will try to copy some great show(or was great until it turned mediocre) and create a lame as hell american anime show and fill it to the rim with many, MANY stereotypes that would want to make some ladies wanna destroy their television sets. That's why I never wanna watch Totally Spies, becuase I think of it as utter crapola!

Oh yeah. It was completely obvious what they did. What was Cartoon Network's part in all this? Did DIC have CN's blessing? If not, why did CN air the show? Did they figure that the show would be popular anyway, so better that it falls within their control?

I think this just a pure coincidence, and that you only see things you WANT to see as 'evidence'. Then again, it's a debate that's been going around for quite some time, so maybe there IS a connection somewhere, I dunno.

And as much as I like to hate TS, I've still watched most of the episodes, it's good for a laugh.

I dunno, the hair could be because there's not much choice you can have if you want three different hair colors. I mean, in cartoons, what else can you have? There's red, black, blonde and brown. (Not including different shades).

The hair styles however could be said to be copied. In both shows, red is worn long, black is very short and blonde appears to be shoulder length.

Though... I can't say much about the other aspects.

Hm. I've noticed that! Those are very good observations.

I LOVE that redhead dude in that "S.P.I." Screenshot. He's so foxy.

Maybe the creator of Totally Spies wanted to copy the PPGs. Because Cartoon Network's "Winx" defently copied Disney's "W.I.T.C.H." Like that doesn't mean anything, but what I'm trying to say is that the PPGs are a popular show, and a lot of people would LOVE to copy it. W/E.
That Winx show is so gay. That make the girls look so bad and slutty in that show. W/E.

Personally, Winx Club means nothing to me compared to Sailor Moon. That's one heck of a show.

Listen, it's all truth, and all, but Totally spies are, I must say, cooler than Powerpuff girls. Because, they're older, there's no moral point (that's what bored me in PPG). So, I think that Totally spies are better cartoon, at least for older kids and teenagers who can't stop watching cartoons.

Not that I'm defending the show, but Winx is actually an Italian show, originally.
