I will try to help you with your computer problems. If you have a technical question, you must supply me with your Operating System with all version information (e.g., Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 SP5, etc.).

Please be specific, detailed, and understandable. Other than that, fire away!

Currently Running: Windows XP Home Edition. Version. 5.1

As you may already know, My damn computer wont let me see my pictures properly. I draw them on oekaki all perfectly and stuff, then I click send and out comes the finished result of my picture, Tattered mess of colors that does not look right. Certainly wasn't what I drew before I send it. I downloaded IE 6.0 cause I thought my browser was out of date and that wasn't it either. So..I dont know what to do now. My computer wasn't like this before.

Normally to diagnose the issue, I'd start digging around the way you save your artwork. However, with the prevalence of spyware on machines today, I'm going to keep it short, then direct you to some good anti-spyware programs.

1) Please tell me the process you use for saving the pics. I will describe how I would be doing it: Go to http://w6.oekakies.com/p/Apathy7/p.cgi and right click on the image you want to save. Chose Save Picture As... from the context menu and save it to your hard drive. That's it. If you are doing anything different, let me know.

Let's scan your PC for viruses and spyware.

SPYWARE:

At this moment, I strongly advise people to use Microsoft's Beta product:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=321CD7A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

Download, Install, and Run it. Clean out all the nasties. Reboot your computer and scan it again. If you are still infected, reboot into safe mode and run the antispyware program then.

Let's see if that works.

1) I do the same process, that exact same way you described it as.

2) I ran Anti-spy program and checked it and everything is okay.

So..?

It's done already? I'm assuming it came up clean?

Okay. Let's test your browser a little.

Go to Tools, Internet Options... Click "Delete Files" button and then check off All offline content. Click OK. When that's done, Click the Settings button. Set the size of the cache to only 10 MB. and make sure it's set to "Automatically."

Close Internet Explorer. Wait 5 seconds, then start it up again. Try to save an image again.

BTW, what are you using to view the picture? Instead of using a picture viewer, drag the PNG file into a Internet Explorer window. See if the details are still there. Then try your normal image viewing software.

Two things:

Are the pictures that I post here with the right colors also getting messed up when you save them?

Try installing Irfanview as your image viewer:

http://www.irfanview.com/

Let me know if that helps.

Did it, but one question. How do I set it up as my default image viewer?

And the images you posted only made them a bit better. ;P

Ah..I did it.

Though my images are still wrecked. Is there a way I could use IrfanView to make my picture colors better?

What's happening to your pictures is desctructive. Irfanview (or anything else) can bring that loss back.

Did you try redownloading the images from the oeaki now? The pictures you already have are no good.

One more thing to try:

Right click on your desktop. A content menu should appear. Click on Properties. Go to the Settings tab. Hopefully you will have something like "Color Quality" or "Bit depth" Make sure you aren't running at 256 colors. Make sure you are set at 32-bit, or 24-bit, or True color.

My color settings were at 16-bit and I changed it to 32-bit cause that was the only choice I had.

EDIT: SUCCESS!!! Aha, I think changing the color settings was what I needed to do. But my pictures still look screwed on the oekaki, but I right click my picture and chose the option of "Refresh picture with full quality" and that works.

Thank you Mr.Moonraiser. ^____^

Cool! I strongly suggest you look into updating your video card drivers. Those things are whack!
