If anyone cares to know (which I doubt). Ryan Drummond, the original voice actor for Sonic the Hedgehog, along with the original voice actors may be returning to do the voices for the games once again. Drummond has sent an e-mail to SEGA asking if it's true that the 4kids cast will be leaving. Though Drummond says that serious negotiating will have to be done to seal the deal. And even if they do rehire the original voice cast, they may not appear in the new PS3/360 game because it's to close to its release date.

Does anyone even know why SEGA and Drummond are on bad terms? I don't, all I know is that SEGA has GOT to get rid of Jason Griffith(currest Sonic voice). His voice for Sonic is just to different. I havn't been able to get used to it. His voice for Shadow is okay, but I'd really like it if they brought back David Humphrey.

An article on Wikipedia (which comes off just slightly biased by the way) states that Drummond is no longer doing the voice work, and that 4kids is using the Sonic X voices for both the show and the games from now on for consistency reasons.

The recent voices for Sonic all sound pretty alike. Nothing wrong with them as far as I can tell. As for Shadow, well I don't really care who does the voice for him since he is a doofus. Hell, I'm not even gonna go into that.

But hey if you wanna complain about voices, then put me down for Tails. It's pretty hilarious because everytime I hear him it sounds like a 3 year old trying to read off lines from a science book. I know it's a franchise directed towards kiddies, but come on. They can do better than that.

Jason Griffith needed to go from day one, his voice lacks the enthusiasm that Ryan's had, as well as it doesn’t suit Sonic’s personality.

However I do agree with Gopher, the voices sound the same, anything can be an improvement for Tails. I don’t know why they didn’t just keep his Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 voice.
But, since Shadow IS a main character they should make more of an effort for getting the right actor for his voice, I am of course referring to kicking Jason’s useless ass off the cast since he disgraced Shadow’s Sonic X voice.

Yeah yeah I know 4Kids aims to make animes more "kid friendly" but come on... changing character deaths that are crucial for the plot (e.g saying Maria did not die) , erasing the most ridiculous things, changing the music (how is that even necessary?), replacing gun sounds with completely irrelevant laser sounds! 4kids doesn't treat the viewers like kids, they treat them like retards.

^ Arright, you lost me. What do you mean 4Kids said Maria isn't dead? What then? 'Tis but a scratch? They blew her fucking head off! I mean, how do you get around something like that? Did they hire Ken Penders to write an episode where Shadow had to wear a hallucinogenic mask that made it look like GUN went "Duckhunt" on her ass, but in reality she's totally fine and sitting in a glass coffin waiting for Prince Charming to wake her the fuck up, is that right? What else is there?

Geez.

And to think that Japanese kids are watching cartoons about sex, drugs and murder like "hey, it's no big thing" but an American kid's cartoon can't even hint at tragedy. Pussies!

But yeah, instead of saying Maria died, they cut out a crap load of scenes and said she was "Taken Away". Yup, that's right.
In the Japanese version, the GUN Solider destroys the panel and enters the room where Maria is in. Now instead of her being "taken away", he shoots her for releasing the pod with Shadow in. After which he drops his gun and says "What have I done..." or something like that.
