It becomes clear early on in the story that this is going to be one of those try-to-trick-the-kids-into-doing-something-their-parents-want-them-to-do episodes. I wanted so badly to hate this episode. But I have to admit, the writers got the message across in a way that didn't completely insult the intelligence of the viewer. In fact, they even point out the fact that this is just an elaborate trick to get kids to eat their broccoli.

The manner in which the villains were defeated is consistent with the plot. So yes, while this was just a ploy to get kids to eat their veggies, the story did not suffer because of it.

Three stars

I can reminisce on the military-themed battle against them. If it weren't as...adulterated or targeted for normal girls instead of Spartan kids, I bet that the scene would remind me a lot of the way things are handled in the :-#. Either way, the concept that this was only a ploy to get kids to eat their veggies was the most displeasing aspect of this episode. First off, I'm a hardcore carnivore! I would only eat plant food if I were that desperate aside from an occassional potato for carb values. Second, as I explained and justified, this plot, too, follows the motif of "dilluting the action intensity for little girls and common children in general," and finally the idea of broccoli aliens is just...weird. Yet, somehow, I still got some kick out of this regardless. Perhaps it shows that Blossom is a good strategist and leader, but I wouldn't dub her a General like I would to someone else I know, especially in the ending. "The battle was won, Blossom. You've personally slain their leader. There's no need to continue the campaign." I did learn one thing: the farming community that lives in their own little town right on the outskirts of Townsville. To get to the bottom of this summary (figurativly and literally), the episode successfully pursued its target, but I am not of the correct audience for the target to work in favor.
