I know this sounds stupid, but does anyone know how old the PPG and RRB's are?

I've also found out that the RRBs were eight years old.

The PPG are 5 or 6 years old (depends on whether you count Birthday Bash as a canonical episode).

The RRB are either the same age as the PPG or slightly younger. I doubt they're older than the Girls. They sure don't look that way to me (I'd assume they'd be a bit bigger than the Girls if they were).

What everyone else is saying. 5 or 6, for the Powerpuff Girls; and the Rowdyruff boys wouldn't be older than them. So meh, yeah.

Psychically maybe; but what about psicologically?

Blossom would be roughly 12 years old (perhaps even older), Buttercup 10-ish or something and Bubbles is probably mentally not much older than what she is physically (though I might be giving her too little credit than she deserves, she too has her smart moments sometimes).

I doubt the Boys are in the same range as the Girls as far as intelligence and the like are concerned. They certainly don't act that way, especially their newer versions. I'm guessing Brick and Butch not much older than 10, Boomer roughly the same as Bubbles (maybe even a bit younger).

Bubbles responds:

"Hey! I'm more intel... intelli... er, smarter than any of those Rowdyruff Boys, and much more so than Boomer! After all, though his eyes are darker than mine, I still fooled both of his brothers throughout Bubble Boy. So there!" (Blows raspberry)

well, if you asked me, Id say the PPG's are 5 'cuz they go to kindergarten and they say "tots" alot. The RRB's are 1 because they were just created but i think mojo/him wanted them to look 5, too.....

Well, it depends on what the year is. The show was originally devised in 1992, and became big in 1998, so I suppose technically, they'd be 6, almost finished with Kindergarten. In many cases, the year in the show reflects the copyright of the episode (i.e. Moral Decay was produced around 2000 and aired in 2001, yet the insert shot of the coin indicates that it was minted in 2000, being a "new Sacajawea dollar." On the other hand, the episode Child Fearing reveals the popularity of the Nintendo 64, which was a major product back in 1997 to 1998, and in the episode, there was no indication of a Gamecube or PS2. Those consoles are revealed in the powerpuff movie, which was premiered in 2002, and the consoles were released in 2000 and 2001, still a good time beforehand of the movie itself. The point is that the series has no real canonical accuracy timewise because it is always moving with the timeframe of its creation).

I haven't seen many of the recent episodes, so would anyone say that the PPGs aged at all until the show went off the air (since they were supposed to be five when they were created)? I know the style changed slightly...

Excerpt from 1999 Craig McCracken interview

Quote: From a 1999 interview with Craig McCracken, creator of the Power Puff Girls

The man understands timeless!

Reporter: Are the girls growing up in the show?

Craig McCracken: No. I'm a firm believer that cartoon characters should be timeless. If they age it makes them too real. And by making them older you lose what was appealing about them in the first place. Also I'd be really creeped out to see adults with no fingers.

They are in kindergarten. I remember when I was in Kindergarten I was 5, so I'll say they are 5 too. Technically, however, they are under 1 years old. In the movie, they are in Kindergarten, and all the way into season 6, they are still in kindergarten!

But I think they were designed to be 5~ year olds

This is actually contrary to my belief because if characters age over time, it shows the realisticness of them, being deployable in a much more actual and realistic environment. If I had a show that lasted for a couple hundred episodes, you'd probably see some minor differences (like how they'd look at 7 or 8 instead of 5 or 6). The change would be very minor if at all, but it still acknowledges the reality of age and time...something many if not all cartoons fail to portray. This may be a quote of mine someday.
