Had you asked this question about four to five years ago, you would have gotten a very mixed bag of responses, with opinions ranging from "SHES SO COOL!" to "WHAT A @#$%ING POSEUR! THAT @#$%& RUINED PUNK!". Back in the early noughties, there was no middle ground when it came to Avril Lavigne (medians, pfft).
However, the passionate flames of love and hate for Miss Lavigne have long died ever since. Nowadays, the replies to your question will only consist of people who say they enjoy listening to her music and who probably are too damn open-minded to jump on critics, or people who used to bash her//jumped on the bandwagon but who now have completely forgotten the fact that she even once existed.
Well, that's no fun, eh? Me, I want my controversy - my flame wars. We haven't banned anyone for a long time now. Sigh.
And I don't know what the hot topic today is, I'm afraid.
Wait a minute, you were asking for my opinion on Miss Lavigne, right? Yeah, I'm glad to know she's still alive. |

Well, it seems that plan failed miserably.

I SAID NEVERMIND! |

| She's really not that bad, i'd rather sit and listen to her stuff then a lot of other shit out there. So my final choice? I'd have to say that I guess I kinda like her, not nearly enough to go buy shit though |

| I like her music....or that is to say I DID. He latest is well....less than satisfactory. "I don't Like your girlfriend?" Oh come on, Avril you can do better than that. The old stuff is nice though. |

I gotta admit, Girlfriend gets stuck in my head a lot, and very easily. XD;
But her first album is better than her latest album. I liked her then, and now I'm just... not really that crazy about her. Her second album was alright. I just, liked her earlier stuff better. I don't hate her, but I don't love her. Not really my style of music, so to speak |

I say good on her, she made music that was accessible and that worked.
As Boris put it, what did we have 4-5 years ago? Either deep love or deep hate. There must have been some element to her music that made people love or hate her. In taht aspect, she's very smart (or her writers are) and very successful.
Me personally, I don't like her music, but i never hated it. I think I had a wet dream about her one time....or maybe that was someone else. Hahaha
Oh, Asis, those "-only-one-good-song- artists" are actually called One-hit Wonders :P |

Avril apparently writes her own music, from what I've heard, or seen somewhere. I know I heard that somewhere though o_o;
So far she's a two-hit wonder, if that even exists. XD; don't forget Complicated. Her debut song |

Oh lordy, here comes Thrash to hurt everybody's musical feelings again...
I can't say that I hate Avril Lavigne exceptionally more than I hate anyone else. I hold a great passionate hatred towards some musicians for so many reasons, but Ms. Lavigne's music is just a very clean, natural dislike. I consider her, and any artist with a similar musical style to be part of this entire section of music out there that I don't pay specific mind to, because not liking it just comes so naturally and easily. It's just an unwritten rule in my mind to not enjoy Avril Lavigne's music. Kind of like it's an unwritten rule in your mind not to enjoy eating poop. You just don't do it, because you know its going to taste awful and make you vomit, no matter how many punky armbands or how much black nailpolish you put on it. Poop is poop. That sentence applies to Avril Lavigne as well, except subtract a single "o" from the word "poop" and you get my message.
I see her as no less of a pop diva than Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson or the like... +1 guitar. The only problem I have is that her music is played at my job constantly, but then again, so is all sorts of terrible pop music, so she doesn't really stand out in my mind as more terrible than the rest. She's really just a small part of one big terrible thing. |

Man, the management at your workplace must be sadists. What's new? Since when has a store put on a good radio station? Oh, that's right. There aren't any!
If you haven't done so already, I'd suggest getting some earplugs. Unless, of course, your job involves regularly responding to verbal queries of any sort. In that case, I'd recommend a special remedy to the situation.
Get a small microphone and clip it to your shirt. Get a good pair of noise-reducing headphones to go with it, and you're set! Sure, you'll look strange with that thing on your chest, but you'll be able to hear people directly in front of you while muting sounds coming from above, with the proper alignment towards the individual speaking to you and a good volume setting in conjunction with that.
If your boss has any trouble with it, explain that it's a special hearing aid for a particularly extreme case of deafness that you acquired recently. ;) |
