http://animationguildblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/monday-studio-rotation.html
From The Animation Guild (TAG) Blog:
Cartoon Network has been doing a good bit of hiring lately, and TAG will hold a new member lunch for a bunch of the newbies this week. Among the projects now bubbling along at the studio:
* Class of 3000 is wrapping up its second season.
* CN has done several dozen 2-minute shorts slated for the internet, theatres near you, and various phone-type devices. And more shorts are in work.
* The Powerpuff Girls returns to the teevee with a new 1/2 hour special now in work.
* Two new pilots are being done by the creator of Billy and Mandy.
* Camp Lazlo is wrapping up its fourth season.
* Chowder is wrapping its first 13 episodes and commecning its second 13.
* Several pilots are in various stages of development.
The girls are back in town! I guess that is what Craig McCracken meant years ago when he stated that the show is taking an "extended vacation". |

| It would be great if this turned out to be that parallel Universe episode "Deja View" that had to be scrapped a few years ago... that kind of plot seems ideal for a television special. Plus, it would be cool to see the Powerpunk Girls in animated form. Though it would be even better if the special were extended to a full hour and involved the Rowdyruff Boys as well... I imagine they'd actually quite like the Powerpunk Girls. |

Here's what I think the plot should be:
While cleaning one day, the girls accidentally open a portal to an alternate dimension from their dresser mirror to an alternate world. Where evil versions of themselves called the "PowerPunk Girls" rule with an iron fist over Viletown. As the girls slowly figure out what's going on and help Jomo Momo (Mojo's good alternate) defeat Oppressor Plutonium, their alternates get sucked into their universe and soon start trashing Townsville. Luckily, Viletown's scientists (the Aobema Boys and Fuzzy) help the PPG get back just in time to confront the PowerPunks. The fight doesn't go well so Jomo momo sends super heroes called "The PolitelyRuff Boys" to Townsville. Once the boys were defeated, the Powerpuff Girls tricked back into portal,Thus saving the day......However,when the Rowdyruff boys Find glass in a junkyard,They meet their Heroic Counterparts. |

Y'know, they were going to animate the infamous PPG comic 'Deja view' But, since the animation of the PPG movie took so long, it was finally cancelled.
That said, I'd kill for a chapter with the PowerPunk Girls. |

Update: Craig confirms a special is in the works. It will air next year on CN and will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Powerpuff Girls series television debut.
Credit goes to Chris Cook (PuffUncle) for the info. |

| Series launched Wednesday 18 November 1998, so 10th anniversary would be Tuesday 18 November 2008. |

That's a good point you got there. Wouldn't be the same with other VAs in it. |

Wow, brilliant news.
I'm slightly sceptical this is a 'special'? In what sense? Sure it won't just be a new episode that's half an hour long?
Anyway, glad to see the girls back on TV and hopefully speeding towards the satisfactory conclusion that they deserve and Craig hinted at. (Even if I can't since I no longer have access to Cartoon Network... :x) |
