No way!? WA State? That means I know of atleast 2 people now suffering the same misery like me! XD
Oh jya adding an image is like... mmm... Cake.
What you do it snag the source url of the image (ie: http://exampleimage.jpg/*.gif/*.png -whatever tag it has...)
once snagged using the simple process of highlighting and ctrl+c, put the code in your soon-to-be post. -LEAVE IT HIGHLIGHTED
Now, go over in your list of phpbb gadget to the (dark grey) button titled 'Img' click on it once and it should automatically surround the code with the "[img]" tags. Press preview to check your work... And believe me, it's not hard.

However you want. We got,
1. Make an "I'll draw your character" thread.
2. Request in a currently existing "I'll draw your character" thread.
3. Make a "Can you draw me?" thread. Not common but acceptable still.
I see you went with option 3. But yea, just read the requester's posts so you know what their limits are and whether or not they are open to further requests and you should be fine.

Don't worry about it TPB, just try to refrain from double posting when not necessary and use the edit button on the top right of your screen. S'all good! Don't let other members scare you into thinking we're a rule-loving cult or something. The important thing is having fun, for sure.
....
Oh and as a mod, I should ask that we as a forum should refrain from armchair modding. I know it's fun but we now have well trained gophers who can sniff out double posts.
