Finally, we are done!
For anyone who missed my early thread and don't know what this is, it's a Powerpuff Girls fangame that Parsec and I have been working on for a long time. You can see a trailer thing for it here: Youtube

It's an energy based fighting game!? You charge energy, you can fly all around the arena, and you use the energy you charge to form attacks of various sorts, each character having their own unique attacks and special advantages. if you ever played Parsec's Powerpuff Z 2, you'll know roughly what to expect, though we'd like to think the game has improved in massive, massive ways. And if you never played that, and don't know what i'm talking about, just watch the trailer :)

Once you complete a few of the game modes, you can even create your own fighters with a Build Your Own Fighter feature that I am quite proud of... and there is multiplayer if you want to fight a friend! Huzzah!

The in-built tutorial explains the various attacks better than what I could do here... just give it a try, let us know what you think and enjoy?! :D

Edit: I made this thread a sticky. Anyone disagrees, I'll change it. ~G.

Dude, every single member of RRN had better be downloading and playing this game right now, because there is no other good reason why nobody is responding to this.

....

I fuckin' played it. It is solid gold. Seriously, SOLID GOLD. I actually feel sorry for you guys, what all with making this game and not being able to make any money off of it. This fan-made marvel totally pwns the crap out of every PPG game in existence! I was expecting a basic fighting program with an impressive custom figher mode. What I wasn't expecting was a challenging fighting experience that literally had me pounding the keys. I have to admit I did get my ass kicked the first 20 times through, and Bleak is one cheap motherfucker, but I got a good feel for the fighting mechanics and nevertheless, it's pretty fun.

The presentation is by no means half-assed; everything in this game is professionally made and designed. The levels are designed so amazingly well (the flying level was ingenious!), the interface is smooth and very presentable, and....unlockables. There are so many unlockables! I can't fuckin' wait to get them all. Thanks Tifu and Parsec, you guys are legendary!

Edit: After playing through Story mode and various challenges, the only real complaint I have is that the game's AI comes off as merciless. Even on the most easy-ranked missions I was getting dogged and beaten by seemingly impossible enemies (The RRB vs PPG level where my entire team gets wiped out in the first 2 minutes, or the drone attack level, to name a few examples), not to mention the bosses who keep on healing themselves over and over again. Iunno, I kinda get the feeling that difficulty-wise, the game isn't made for everyone. Then again, mebe I'm just a noob. I'll STFU if everyone disagrees with me.

Anyways, I made my own toon! So if anyone wants to fight me, I'm totally ready!

I'm glad you got around to finishing this, and can't wait till the download finishes. :D

Okay, we all have our critics, Like Me, I'll be your critic for tonight...Okay, I hate to say that I was not impressed with this game...The Controls were iffy at best, the load times were way to damn long, and once you get to Boomer, he's a total bitch...an he's got like the cheepist super move ever made...a beam that chases you and doesn't disappear, well fucking fantastic! Look, it did have some moments, ut just no enough to keep me entertained...I'd rather go back to playing other fan games like "Super Doom Mario" where I can kill a horde of Yoshis with a Bill Blaster...Heh heh heh...No offence on yor part by the way...But there's just something about flying fighting games that just doesn't work on any kind of game console or computer...don't take it harshly, yyou still got way more supporters than critics..But i'm probably the only one who installed it, played it for anhour, then uninstalled it because I was getting frustrated...I was playing on Medium by the way and I refused to start on something with some simple controls at a novice level...but ey, yu can't ipress everyone...just ask Halo, and as of right now consider me as the Yahtzee Croshaw(in training) of RR.net

good fan game, I have to admit. Someday, if I ever get the technical prowess, I'm making an expansion pack to this. The antangonist Bleak has one of my special powers made differently, for one of mine is Superlaser, where I fire like a great laser blast that can destroy an entire planet (see the Death Star for reference). He fires a one-hit KO blast, which is similar to my idea except it doesn't take long enough to prep. My other one would be to naturally create an atomic explosion when supercharged (supercharged may be different from the overcharge ability in the fan-game). It is a cool piece of fan-fiction, though, despite a lot of the features are hard to control (i.e. blast deflection, which I could do with my saber). Speaking of sabers, I don't like fighting with a thumb tack, which is another motivation for me to want to create an expansion pack should I become educated. Still, the idea has a nukeload of potential if certain difficulties could be ironed out.

Pros:

+ Good story.

+ Good musics.

+ A lot of unlockables.

+ Decent DirectIP module for multiplay.

Cons:

+ A few graphic engine bugs that could cause crashes.

+ The game engine itself sucks resources, so try not to run too many tasks while playing the game or the frames wont sync with the movement.

+ The difficulty is quite hard (imo).

Conclusions: An overally good game!

Hope my little review help! XD

I don't wanna ruin any surprises Tifu and Parsec worked on, but in terms of the character creation mode, this is just a sample of how versatile it is:

Peebs, Elmo, Twilight, Dark, Boris and Vic. I've also been able to make the entire Brattybad Girls roster, my Rodentruff Boys team (including myself), Xion, Chibi Man, and a dozen other members. And I haven't even unlocked all the parts yet! So yea, get the mode unlocked and have fun!

In response to the difficulty, I do admit that I've hit my PC and screamed over some of the missions.

Solution: breaks.

15 minute breaks from the game really help you calm down, and if you're playing till 3 AM and screaming, go to sleep. I can't give any real advice on the missions, but I've always found that pauses helped my mind to recharge. And, once you've done some of the challenges, you'll get a better feel for the harder fights. I went from getting my ass kicked by Bubbles to beating the last boss without even getting hit. In fact, I would say that perhaps it would have been a better idea to have the 25 Trials available BEFORE completing the Story/Tourny modes. That might help players get better practice than just fighting the training mode dummies.

I guess I can TRY to give out some advide:

1. For the ones starting out, remember to get some space between the enemy and CHARGE. Sure, you'll spend a little time away from the fighting, but the enemy will have to do the same thing. Don't blow all your energy off shooting aimlessly at them or you'll end up firing off one ball every 5 minutes, especially if you're shooting them from a distance. I know, I wish the charging was a little faster, but it's not impossible to use.

2. Remember you can BLOCK attacks. I have a hard time with this as my nature is to just bash the enemy without being cautious. One ball comes at you, hit spacebar. It's not quick enough to dodge each and every ball, so deflect one ball and avoid the next. Repeat. If you can, get close to them and fly around, letting them lose all their energy on you. If you miss most (or all) of them, they'll be drained and you can pound them with your own energy up close and personal. Blocking also serves as a punching attack (DUH, I know), so if you're low on energy and they're getting close to you, punch them. It takes no energy to use and it's helped me on numerous occasions.

3. Listen to ques as well; you hear them charging a super attack, avoid it! If they fire a stream of balls at you, try to fly in between them (Flower Blasts and Stream attacks, for example). A bonus is if they're supercharging for their ultimate attack, you can just hit them with one ball and they'll lose their supercharge. Persistant jerks will spend most time trying that over and over again, so it'll be good if you can interrupt them. It's often hard to get a good superball attack off since they miss most of the time, but when the AI is trying to supercharge, you'll have a really good opportunity to hit them hard. Lastly, their ultimate attacks usually have a second just before they go off where you can hit the enemy, making the attack totally disappear AND wiping out their energy gauge. Be careful though, it works both ways. In other words, don't try to pull off a super attack if they're close by and hitting you; find some distance.

Also, Some super attacks work better if you're in a certain area of the battle (Flower Blasts are good in the center of the map, whereas Stream attacks are good in the corner, where you have a better chance of hitting someone).

4. You can control the battle. It's hard, but depending on whether the enemy is chasing you or getting away from you, you can sucker them into following you and shooting blasts at them without avoiding them, or (rarely) you can back them into a corner. If you notice a certain flight pattern they're taking, try to compensate and shoot where you think they'll go. How fast you're moving and what direction you're going will determine what trajectory your blasts will go, so you will have to train yourself to manage that. If you have the story mode beaten, definitely try the drone mission. It's almost impossible for me, but it does help me train to plan out my attacks.

....

I wish I could give better advice, but most of it will fall naturally into your mind. You just have to dive in and adapt to the game mechanics. It's different than most fighting games, but I don't think Parsec and Tifu are silly enough to release such a detailed game WITHOUT beta-testing it. Sucks for the people who have given up on it though; I was really looking forward to having a duel with Xion for oldtimes sake!

BTW, the tracking beam IS avoidable. I've been hit by it mebe once in the entire time I've played PPZ3. You don't even have to fly too fast, just drag it out and it'll disappear on its own! Actually, that's MY signature move now....
