Yesterday afternoon I took out my old Powerpuff Girls "City of Soundsville" CD for old time nostalgia sakes and put it into my CD player. While I was listening to track 17: "Super Secret City Of Soundsville Song" by Ursula 1000 I had noticed that the beats in that song had sounded familiar to some song that I had heard last year during the summer of 2007. It turns out that that song was Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" song (although the beat can be heard moreso in the remix music video with Lil' Mama than in the original). At first I thought that it was just some weird coincidence until I had realized that the "City of Soundsville" CD had come out in 2001, and Avril Lavigne's "Best Damn Thing" album had come out in 2007. Upon further listening to Avril's CD I had also realized that Avril Lavigne's lazy ass had also used the same beat from the "Super Secret City of Soundsville Song" in her other song "The Best Damn Thing".
I heard a few rumors a while back that she was getting sued by songwriters James Gangwer and Tommy Dunbar because her "Girlfriend" song had plagiarized the Rubinoos 1979 song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", and I had also learned from a hilarious Mad TV parody of her "Girlfriend" music video entitled "Black Friend" that the song also plagiarizes the popular cheerleading song "Mickey!" by Toni Basil, but the fact that she also stole from the "City of Soundsville" CD and thought that she could actually get away with it really pisses me off! |
