((It took a long time, but I've returned with ideas))

"It could be just me Steve," Jason said "but I think I'm cursed."

"That's ridiculous man," Steve replied hastily, clearly doubting his words as they rolled off his tongue. "alright, I'm going to go hit on chicks at the mall you in?"

"Nah, it never leads anywhere."

"Sounds good bro, take care."

Jason nodded at Steve as they parted ways, and it was as they separated that the feeling began to sink in. Jason smiled, and turned back to Steve, expecting to never see that boy again...

He was right...

If you had told somebody that the world would end in a week, you'd be looked at like you were insane. If you thought you could handle existence coming to an end, you're giving yourself far too much credit. The end of existence can only be foreseen by one man. His name, is God.

Jason Krutz was told since he was born that he would do great things and from all of his fuck ups, he couldn't possibly believe that. He had been failing school, playing too many video games, and had never even managed to get a phone number from a women. These things were things men were told they should be amazing at to be considered men. Succeed, get women, play sports, and he was terrible at all of them. But when half the world is gone, and a small town is all that is left standing, who cares if you got a 32 in Spanish for the semester?

((It begins))

Jason stumbled through the mall fifteen days after seeing Steve, his best friend, and they were going to meet again to try to pick up women. Jason wouldn't tell Steve he actually only needed a new pair of jeans, and the women were clearly a plus, because Jason felt he would only fail in comparison to Steve's smooth talking.

The mall is a strange place Jason couldn't help but think as he stepped onto the escalator. It was at the top of the escalator that he should have met Steve, as they normally did, but somethin' different happened today. Something about the sky darkening with the glass roof tinting against the lack of sunlight told Jason, here was not where he wanted to be. That's when the rumbles began.

California wasn't exactly the best place to go to avoid earthquakes or mudslides, but it was gorgeous and that's of course why people flocked there these days. Jason stood still, and would someday thank God and all of the heavens that he had grown up there, for the objects set in motion this day would drag hell to earth.

"What the hell?" Jason spoke underneath his breath as the sky dropped down to a black hole of space, large chunks of what Jason could only assume was the sky began to rain down upon the only town Jason ever knew, destroying things he would miss. His friends, his favorite places, his life. The glass shattered as Jason reached the top of the escalator and stared forwards expecting to see Steve hiding underneath something for dear life, but what he was was Steve sprawled across the tile, dead from a steel beam that had swung down low. The glass continued to crack, as Jason looked upwards, hand beginning to emit a vibrant glow as he knelt down next to the halved body of his beloved friend, his black hair falling backwards and onto his shoulders while the blades fell closer and closer, but halting in their tracks as the reached inches from his eyes.

Shattering sounds hit the floor, the glass above Jason parted and clanged lightly amongst other roof top objects that smashed into people as well. Jason was alive, the sky was falling, the heavens screamed and hell beckoned all that wished it. In the mall, Jason stood, alone, wondering of those who could have survived without some kind of power. He knew what this was, he had used it before, but prayed it would never come back.

He pulled his shirt from his back revealing a tight red shirt with black stripes down each side of the body, and as he removed his jeans the spandex shone vibrantly and he dawned his domino mask. Masked Vengeance was his name, super hero, masked vigilante, and the man who had survived the lightest part of the world ending. If the other heroes lived, he'd be lucky, but as he picked up the communicator on his belt searching channels for some kind of hearing, he heard three words that he never expected to hear.

"Superman has fallen"
